PLACEMENT POLICIES (GEC SHEOHAR)

  1. The Institute follows 'One-Student-One-Job' policy. Low-paid jobs from IT companies recruiting 30 or more students are not counted towards this. Exceptions will also be exercised in the case of government organizations/PSUs as the students’ education is largely supported by the people of this country. Once a student is offered a job in the PSUs/Government, he/ she will not be allowed to sit for any further campus recruitment drive and will decline any other job he/she might have earned from campus.
  2. As an exception to the ‘One-Student-One-Job’ policy, a student who has earned a job can appear for placement in another company if he/she is allowed for the same by the Professor In-charge, Training and Placement Cell. The discretion of the Professor In-charge of T&P Cell will be final in this regard.
  3. The company is required to send offer letters to T&P Cell for handing it over to the concerned students. Such letters should be mailed to the Cell for all the interviews finished by the end of the month of selection. The companies visiting later are expected to issue the same within a month from their date of the interview.
  4. The undergraduate students are required to undergo summer training/internship for the duration of minimum 6 weeks during the summer vacation as per university syllabus. B.Tech. students are allowed to proceed for the internship after completion of 6 semesters.
  5. The company will be allotted dates for conducting Pre–Placement-Talk (PPT) / Written-Test/Online-Test/Interview, with a request to confirm the same by a specified date. On failing to do so, the allotted date may be given to other companies. Requests for the change of the date can be entertained subject to its availability.
  6. The student(s) shortlisted may not be available for the interview as a student may opt out of company because the students are allowed to appear in the interview of any 2 companies in a single slot. T&P Cell will provide a comprehensive list of such students to the company before its scheduled slot. For this reason, companies are advised to maintain an extended list of shortlisted students to have makeup against the dropout. It will help company to choose the right candidate from a sizable lot. It shall be appreciated if such a list is communicated to us early to avoid last minute hassles to be experienced by the companies.
  7. All registered students are eligible to participate in the recruitment process for placements through the Cell.
  8. The Institute follows One-Student-One-Job policy with the following exceptions:
  1. Low paid jobs that are from any companies recruiting 30 or more students and/ or offering a CTC less than or equal to 4.5 lakhs/annum.
  2. Jobs from Government organizations (such as defence services, BARC, ISRO, DRDO, etc.) if not already placed in them or any PSUs.
  3. Students who secured job in non-core companies can appear for placement in their core companies irrespective of the package offered.
  1. All the resumes are going to have a fixed format. Except for the career objectives and any other interest-related information, all other fields will be verified by the Cell using T&P faculty coordinators or core team members or staff of the Cell.
  2. Any student receiving a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) from an on-campus/off-campus activity has to inform the same to Training and Placement Cell by sending an e-mail to [email protected]  Failing to do so may lead to strict disciplinary actions.
  3. In case the candidate, after accepting the offer, is not willing to join the company for any reason, he/she should immediately inform the company and the cell.
  4. The students facing any kind of problem at any stage of the selection process should bring it to the knowledge of the departmental T&P faculty Coordinator and/or T&P Cell.
  5. Students are not allowed to carry mobile phones, tablet PCs, laptop calculators or any electronic device during the Online/Written Placement Test unless it is specified.
  6. Any sort of misbehaviour/misconduct on the part of students, which affects the decorum of the Pre-Placement Talk or the selection process or the reputation of the T&P Cell/Institute, including asking inappropriate/embarrassing questions, coming in inappropriate attire and not possessing the ID card, will result in the student being debarred from sitting in the further process of selection of the company and, if repeated again, the student will be debarred for 15 days from the date of incidence of the act. The decision of the Training Placement Officer shall be final in such matters.
  7. It is expected that a student shall NOT enter any wrong/fraudulent/misleading information in his/her resume. On violation of this rule, the student would be debarred from the entire session. This may also attract strict disciplinary action. This matter will be looked into by the Training and Placement Disciplinary Committee formed by the Institute.
  8. Cheating or using unfair means in any form or marking proxies during the selection process is strictly prohibited. Students are required not to look at the screen of other computers. Students should not possess any paper related to the exam while appearing in the same. Students will have to strictly adhere to the process as defined by the Cell. A student found to be involved in the cases of unfair means will be debarred from the date of such occurrence(s) for the next 15 companies in which he/she will be shortlisted for interview/final placement. The decision of the Training & Placement officer shall be final in such matters.
  9. Students must keep their Identity Card with them at the time of Pre-Placement Talk /Test/Group Discussion/ Interview and produce the same when demanded by the team of the company, the staff of the Cell, core team members, T&P faculty Coordinators or T&P student Coordinators. No one would be allowed to enter the test/interview venue without the identity- card.
  10. This Cell will ensure that placement activities do not affect the regular teaching program of the students. Therefore, the Cell will arrange all the placement and internship activities beyond class hours. In a case where the company (private/PSU/Govt.) insists to conduct the process during the teaching hours and is not at all willing to come to our campus for placement activities otherwise, then only those students will be allowed to participate for the recruitment processes of the company who submit an undertaking that they are not going to demand any waiver in attendance requirement on account of their engagement with placement activities of such companies.
  11. A “Dream Job” is defined as an offer of at least 12.0 lacs per annum package. Only one “Dream Job” option can be taken by a student during the entire placement process.
A student will not be allowed to appear in any on-campus placements after getting an offer in the “Dream Job” category.
